Academy Awards

On 27th February 2011, the 83rd Annual Academy Awards took place at the fabulous Kodak Theatre in Hollywood. The event was hosted by Devil Wears Prada's Anne Hathaway, and 127 Hours' James Franco. The likes of Meryl Streep, Colin Firth and Jeff Bridges attended the event along with many other famous faces.

The event wasn't as eventful as other Oscar nights, however it was an entertaining and satisfactory occasion with some well deserved winners. The Kings Speech of course took the top prizes and teary, moving and even sweary speeches made the event more memorable.

True Grit

This new film staring the brilliant Jeff Bridges (Crazy Heart, Iron Man) and the talented Matt Damon (Bourne Quadrilogy, Green Zone, Good Will Hunting), tells the story of a tough, corrupt U.S Marshall that helps a young girl find her fathers killer.
Directed by the famous Coen Brothers (Fargo, Burn After Reading), this remake of the 1969 John Wayne classic looks fantastically shot and well acted, earning many nominations at the upcoming Academy Awards. A highly anticipated film that doesn't seem like it will let audiences down.

127 Hours

This upcoming new film, staring basically only James Franco, looks exciting and heart-stopping. It tells the true story of one Aron Ralston, whose love for mountain-trekking is put to the test as disaster strikes in Moab, Utah. As he climbs down one of the many canyons, a boulder lets loose and crushes his right arm. Trapped, scared and alone, Ralston resorts to unthinkable solutions in order to escape alive. Directed by Danny Boyle (Slumdog Millionaire, 28 Days Later, The Beach), this film tells the tale of Ralstons strength and incredible will, as he struggles to survive for 127 hours.

Black Swan

This new upcoming film, staring Natalie Portman, is highly anticipated. A young woman (Portman) whose life revolves around ballet, has an opportunity to star in the upcoming production of 'Swan Lake'. With a big production comes competition and rivalry, and as she delves deeper and deeper into the character of the swan, she is consumed and falls into the depths of her darker side...
This stunning- looking film has high expectations, and hopefully audiences won't be disappointed.
